Expert design that brings spaces together in unexpected ways
As we approach a new season in 2023 (already, can you believe it?!), I wanted to take a dive into trends we can expect to see emerging in the next few months.
I am proud to announce that the gray trend is on its way out. As an avid fan of color, this trend has been a thorn in my side for the past 5 years (or however long it has been around). In my opinion, it was an easy way for homeowners to create a cohesive space without the need for real design.
As the gray trend moves its way on out of here, we will start to see more pops of color, warmth, and patterns. We are also starting to see much more decorative lighting emerge, which I am bursting at the seams with excitement about!
When it comes to bathrooms, we have been seeing subway tile for entirely too long. The time has finally come for subway to move on out with zellige tile replacing it. The natural, shiny, and flawed look of zellige lends little to be desired in the way of texture and character, and my clients are LOVING zellige right now.
We have seen a lot of the modern farmhouse over the last few years, and we have also seen many different versions of it. As this trend continues to transform, we will begin to see more of a Scandinavian, European style to the farmhouse look with slightly more color and texture. I am perfectly fine with this evolution as it leans more into my personal style.
We are also beginning to see design trends challenge us as we are beginning to see more of a looseness with design when it comes to texture, color, metals and patterns. There is much less uniformity now than there ever was, which gives us both more design freedom, but challenges us at the same time. I love that we are seeing mixed metals, mixed textures, and mixed prints because as people, that is what we are – a mix of experiences wrapped up into one beautiful little design.
