Expert design that brings spaces together in unexpected ways
In recent years, investing in interior design has shifted from a luxury reserved for the elite to a smart, value-driven decision embraced by homeowners and businesses alike. As the lines between functionality, aesthetics, and well-being blur, more people are recognizing that a thoughtfully designed space isn’t just a place to live or work—it’s a long-term investment that enriches both lifestyle and financial future. Interior design is not just an expense, it is an investment that enhances the way you function and live in your home. By utilizing the help of an expert, you will not only be elevating your home, but you are improving your quality of life. That sounds like a worthwhile investment to me!
High-end interior design consists of guidance from concept to completion by an expert who has vast experience and knowledge of interior design. With floor plans, construction drawings, finish selection, furnishing design and placement, we, as interior designers know how to create an environment that will function perfectly as you need it to. It is the interior designer that knows what thickness your floors need to be, how to size a light for a room, how to place each light so that your room isn’t overly or underlit, what color palettes complement each other, what kind of mood colors and patterns create and so-on. Interior design truly is an art, and it is a craft that sharpened with each job a designer completes, much like any other profession. Space planning is one of the most sought-after design services that I offer and it is because people who do not operate in a design setting on a daily basis would have no idea about spacing minimums, how to create comfortable flow of a space, and how to layout a space so that it creates the right mood and functions properly.
To someone like me, who does space planning every day, each job is like a puzzle to me. I lay everything out on my computer or drafting board, and I put it together, then take it apart, and put it back together again until I find the solution that best meets my clients’ needs. Sometimes it takes 5-6 times of trying something, or even walking away for a few hours for the perfect design solution to just hit me, and it always does. While in design school, my professors often complimented my space planning skills. I feel it is a natural God-given gift.
Not only can investing in interior design elevate your own experience within your home, but it also increases your resale value. The real estate market has been littered with quick flips for far too long with gray LVP, gray walls, and boring lighting. Frankly, I think people are tired of it. I think someone is much more likely to be willing to pay for a home that is designed with thought and purpose, that feels warm and inviting, than a cold, gray, quick flip. The thing about the gray trend is just that – it is a trend. But a home designed with timeless fixtures and finishes will stand the test of time and attract any buyer into a bidding war. Gray quick flips are everywhere, but the timeless beauties are far and few between.
When you’re designing your home with an expert by your side, you become armed with that knowledge by association. It is us as designers who know not to use A material because it won’t last or B material because it will go out of style in 6 months. The reason we know this is because we’ve done it! Over and over and over, whereas the average home owner is doing this 2-3 times in their life. You would never want to act as your own attorney or accountant because you’re not armed with that level of experience, so why would you ever want to act without an expert for your home design and perhaps the largest investment of your life?
I think most people can attest to the fact that when they are in a beautiful, or clean feeling space, they feel uplifted and motivated. If knowing that working and living from a well-designed space will improve your work style, and quality of life, is it even a question that interior design is an investment and not an expense?
